Lovely restaurant in charming garden setting
We enjoyed a lovely dinner at this genuine Italian restaurant specializing in wood-fired pizza. It’s recommeded to sit outside to experience the beautiful garden. The food was great, we particularly liked the pasta with porcini mushrooms as well as the crepes for dessert.
Cozy restaurant in the valley near Assisi with beautiful outdoor seating and a swimming pool in the summer. Delicious food and excellent service.

We discovered this local gem after horseback riding at Natura Cavallo. The menu is typical Umbrian fare and incredibly delicious and affordable. The Antipasti platter was the best we've found anywhere, and the dishes are all lovingly crafted from home-made pasta and delectable sauces. The Pappadaralle with Wild Boar, Lasagne, and Ravioli with truffles and porchini were all stand-outs. Sit on the balcony for a breath-taking view of the Nestore River Valley.

To find the restaurant, drive to Montone and park outside the old walls. Walk up the main ramp/staircase and follow the signs on your right through the tunnel.
Update 10-03-24: Under new management in 2023. The food is still good, but they don’t seem to like Americans. Try L'Antica Osteria di Montone in the lower square instead.
Better known as "Christine's," this bed and breakfast is well-known for its delicious Sunday Brunch Buffet. Turn right at the bottom of the hill and go a few kilometers to Mercatale. The restaurant is .6 kilometers past the Tuscany border. There are several blue signs but it can still sneak up on you - look for the green fence.

A hip café/restaurant/bar in a cobbled pedestrian street close to the duomo (cathedral). Open mostly in the evenings, it's a great place to chill and enjoy one of their amazing range of vintage rums or a warming coffee.
The restaurant is good too with homemade pasta dishes and more elaborate fare. There is often live music here too, ranging from opera to contemporary.
The vinyards at the base of Montemigiano are cultivated by the family who owns Girasole RestaurantSituated in the beautiful Niccone Valley, right at the foot of Montemigiano, the winery is owned by the Gritti family. They offer a very good SANGIOVESE MERLOT and SYRAH at a modest price (5-6 Euro retail).
The restaurant serves delicious food, typical to the region, but the stand-out is the service. One of the waiters lives in the farmhouse on the road to the Borgo, and he is very helpful with wine suggestions.
